Mermaid When She Drowned

Lady Shares Her Real Life Encounter With a Mermaid When She Drowned

There is just something about seeing your life flash before your eyes that changes your orientation on life forever. That is the kind of memory that stays glued to you forever. When you wake up, you recall the incident. Everything you do after that day is somehow linked to that fateful day. I hope by sharing my story, I can finally shed some of the weight that has been on my shoulders ever since I nearly lost my life. During one of our family vacations while I was a kid, I encountered the most bizarre thing that has ever happened to me.

I was 10 years old at the time, and my family and I decided to spend a day off dad's leave at the particular resort. I won't disclose the name of the resort to avoid reputation damage. My dad had a special place on the resort reserved for our family, so we can access its beach easily. It had been two days and we were having a swell time until I drowned. My elder brother promised me an adventure to the beach and I was super excited. We went in the swimwear and gears mom had organised for our use.

As soon as we arrived on the beach, my brother took me around, showing me the different parts of the beach. We explored the swash zone and he showed me the beach face. I can still picture his face when he described the wrack line and the large amount of debris in that part. He talked about everything with so much confidence that I could tell he enjoyed his course of study, geology. Suddenly, people started surrounding us to hear more of his knowledge and my brother got caught up in the attention. He didn't know when I got lost in the crowd. Out of curiosity, I wandered farther into the water without my gears, unfortunately. One minute, I was enjoying the water and the next, a strong wave swept me off.

I could hear my brother call people's attention to the wave and explained it, while I was struggling to get above it. My brother realised I was gone too late. I struggled to get back on the surface of the water, flapping my tiny arms and legs but it was all to no avail. I sunk deeper until I became unconscious with excessive water in my lungs. Suddenly, I felt warm hands on my body. Initially, I thought it was my brother and I came to the realization that I was finally safe. My body could tell when I was out of danger and back on land. I began to cough out the water in my lungs and when I finally opened my eyes, what I saw in front of me made me think I died and woke up in another universe.

Right in front me was a mermaid who gradually changed into a human with dreadlocks. Initially, I was terrified because I was in a deserted part of the beach with what I knew as a "mythical being." The changed mermaid gave me directions on how to get back to where other humans were on the resort. I made my way back to my brother and mom, who were agitated trying to find me. Till this moment, my family presumed that I wandered on land. They don't know anything about me drowning and I will keep it that way.

My assumption is that the woman was part of the crowd and noticed when the wave swept me away and came to save me. Perhaps she had been in the water all along. Who knows? For the first time, I can openly thank her for saving my life.
